The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) seeks a Global Education Fellow to join the CCCU’s BestSemester staff in an administrative capacity. In the process, the Fellow will learn about Christian higher education and experience the full spectrum of operations required to execute successful third party provider, global education programs. Throughout the fellowship, the Fellow will engage in a wide variety of work from study abroad duties, registrar activities, marketing, student recruitment, database management, and conferences/events. In addition to these day-to-day duties, the Fellow will have the opportunity to implement projects that are specifically designed to promote our international and domestic off-campus study programs, enhance our relationships with member campuses, and creatively identify ways to expand the quality and reach of our programs. All duties required by internships to fulfill M.A. degree requirements will be met.
The Council is a professional association of 182 campuses in 20 nations whose mission is to advance the cause of Christ-centered higher education and to help our member institutions transform lives by faithfully relating scholarship and service to biblical truth. The Council coordinates professional development opportunities for administrators and faculty, manages U.S. based and international off-campus student programs, provides public advocacy for Christ-centered higher education and manages cooperative efforts among its member campuses (www.cccu.org).
Answering the incoming BestSemester phone line and fielding questions from students, parents, and campuses.
Coordinating travel logistics and meetings for VPAA and Director of Enrollment and Campus Relations
Assisting with the composition and dissemination of the quarterly BestSemester update to campus contacts
Helping with the coordination of SAPC program review visits
Assisting with the management of the general inquiry list, making emails and phone calls
Assist with disseminating grade reports
Updating program specific web pages
Updating BestSemester materials and forms as needed
Updating social media as needed
Drafting content for publications and blogs as needed
Building the CCCU faculty database, and designing effective outreach initiatives
*The nature and responsibilities of this position may change at the discretion of the CCCU, and pending the Fellow’s time availability in addition to the following special projects.
Special Projects May Include:
Compiling student programs data to aid in effective strategic decision making
Researching study abroad competitors and identifying trends in the industry
Researching best practices in study abroad and applying that knowledge to make recommendations in the areas of risk management and student health and safety
Researching Title IX, FERPA, HIPPA, and other applicable laws that intersect with the higher education, study abroad field
Exploring other avenues of recruitment, and developing a strategy for targeting those markets.
Examining CCCU financial aid trends and financial aid trends in study abroad
Persons applying for the position should:
Affirm the Nicene Creed and have an appreciation for the Christian mission and purpose of the CCCU and its BestSemester programs
Have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Have experience completing detailed research projects
Be competent in computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite and basic social media platforms
Have a good grasp of databases and understand database logic
Be detail-oriented, highly organized, flexible and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Preference will be given to applicants with the following desired qualities:
Master’s degree candidates in need of a higher education internship/practicum, or recent CCCU graduates who desire experience in educational management/administration
Cross-cultural educational experience
An understanding of the basics of marketing
Benefits and Compensation:
$1,000/month living stipend
Provided housing in Capitol Hill, Washington DC, fully furnished with utilities, internet, laundry (in apartment) included. Short walk to Metro station, Capitol, Union Station, National Mall and more ($1,500/month value).
