The potential candidate for this position is preferably a highly motivated PhD/MD in computer science, medical physics, bioengineering or related fields and has hands-on training or experience on PET imaging analysis and quantification or any equivalent experience, training and/or education. The duties will include research projects that focus on using PET imaging modality for neuroimaging, cardiovascular imaging and cancer imaging.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working on reconstruct of the PET imaging data and performing the kinetic modeling.
Quantifying the tracer uptake in tissues for both animal models and human beings.
Writing manuscripts for publications and progress reports to PIs.
Opportunities to present research methods and scientific findings at national and international conferences.
Following instructions and discussions with principal investigator, designs research protocols, including developing procedures for the collection, verification and management of data.
Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
Performs complex statistical analysis of data collected and writes interpretative reports. Verifies the correctness of the data submitted and makes recommendations based on these analyses.
Solves practical problems relating to difficulties with equipment or test subjects. Suggests technical or procedural improvements in testing methods.
Conducts literature searches related to research project.
Ph.D. in computer science, medical physics, bioengineering or related fields; good communication and personnel skills. The candidate should be proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., MATLAB, , C++).
Master’s degree with 4 years of experience in research lab operations or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 9 years required.
