This position provides a wide range of computing support to faculty, staff, and students within the Hume Center. Selected Candidate will be responsible for providing tier one and two problem determination, problem/incident recording, problem resolution and problem escalation for IT supported products and services, diagnoses problems with hardware and software on a variety of platforms and operating systems, and makes necessary modifications or serves as consultant for the appropriate solution. Responsibilities will include desktop, server, and network support working in a restricted research environment with strict security controls.
-Comprehensive knowledge and experience with principles and concepts of computer systems and operations. -Demonstrated knowledge of hardware and networking components. -Experience maintaining Windows, Apple, and/or Linux based systems. -Experience supporting a variety of desktop applications running in various operating systems. -Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and take initiative to solve complex IT problems. -Experience working with Windows Server, MS Active Directory, group policies, and/or Configuration Management. -Experience with networking concepts and devices (i.e. tcp/ip, firewalls, vlan switching, etc.) -Experience with automated deployment of Windows, Linux, and MacOS desktop and applications running on each. -Must determine user needs to make hardware, software and configuration recommendations. -Must have good customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to provide IT support for the end user. -Must be a US citizen able to obtain a security clearance.
—Extensive experience working with linux server OS (Ubuntu, CentOS) -Knowledge of data encryption both at rest and in transit (i.e. openssl, openssh, dm-crypt, bitlocker, etc.) -Knowledge of DFARS 7012 and NIST 800-171 controls for securing information systems -Experience scripting MacOS, Windows, and Linux -Experience with WSUS and patch management. -Experience with VMware and virtual machine/server concepts -Experience with MySQL and/or MSsql relational databases -Experience with IBM BigFix central workstation management.
