The West Virginia University Research Corporation is seeking applications for a Laboratory Manager. This position will advance research for the study of redox/NO-related aims in the context of obesity/diabetes as well as cancer.
This position provides program, as well as direct internal and external client support services. Responds to inquiries and resolves matters of low to moderate complexity. Responsibilities require general theoretical knowledge, as well as some judgement, resourcefulness and originality. Diverse guides and precedents are available to apply or adapt to the circumstances. Work effort has considerable impact on client services, program and project image with potential legal liabilities.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Organize and conduct experiments (including animal experimentation)
Order and inventory all supplies
Oversee undergraduate, graduate and medical students
Maintain the laboratory’s compliance with all safety and university-related policies
Maintain all ACUC and DLAR records in up-to-date and compliant fashion
Master’s degree in biology or a related life sciences discipline
2 years of experience in biological research
Previous experience with PCR (genotyping and protein expression profiling) preferred
Previous experience with murine experimentation preferred
Equivalent combination of education and experience
