The social worker works collaboratively with other disciplines in the hospital to maintain high quality patient care while improving efficiency of resources use and managing costs. The Social Worker assesses the biopsychosocial needs of the patient. In addition, psychiatric, substance abuse and family needs must be appropriately assessed. Populations served include: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adult and geriatric patients.
Master's Degree in Social Work required.
3 years social work experience with a minimum of 1 year in a medical setting preferred
State of Colorado Licensed Social Worker (who is working towards clinical licensure) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of community resources, and how to access them, required. Ability to work well with other disciplines/team members to provide optimal patient care. Ability to convene and facilitate family care conferences. An understanding of Advance Directives and the ability to help establish a medical proxy decision-maker for a patient. Excellent verbal and written communication, counseling and mediation skills. Self-directed and able to function independently. Requires excellent understanding of human growth and development skills, as well as, understanding of pathological behavior in humans. Ability to prioritize work load and effectively manage constant work pressures and demands. Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural diversity. Knowledge of family dynamics and ability to intervene with all family members and systems. Ability to document statistics. Ability to use phone and computer systems efficiently. Represent MRMC in the community on various committees and be able to interact with other agencies in an effective manner to ensure the well-being of our patients.
Vision sufficient to read medical records, documentation, and to notice visual changes in client condition. Hearing sufficient to interact with clients who may be unable to speak at normal voice level. he Social Worker will also serve on MRMC Ethics Committee.
