Under minimal supervision of the Heart Station Manager,conduct routine and emergency electrocardiograms, 24 hour Holter monitor tapeanalysis, and cardiac stress examinations per physician orders. Also assistwith scheduling and limited oversight duties within the EKG department.
Interview applicants for vacant positions and make recommendations to supervisor. Evaluate work performance of all subordinates and make recommendations to supervisor regarding promotional or disciplinary action. Prepare shift work assignments and schedule workers as needed to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
Maintain current policy and procedure manuals and ensure their availability to subordinates. Provide technical instruction/supervision, and in-service education for subordinates in order to improve their abilities and aide in their advancement. Respond to and direct subordinates responses to all drills or hospital emergency situations.
Ensure that appropriate patient charges are recorded in an accurate and timely fashion for services rendered. Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels of all necessary supplies used by the department. Oversee maintenance of appropriate logs for statistical and accounting purposes and ensure accuracy of required reports.
Conduct and assist in ECGs, exercise tolerance, holters, BIOZ's, and Prime ECG procedures. Ensure all test interpretations are sent to appropriate physicians in a timely manner. Recognize cardiac rhythmic abnormalities, especially cardiac or respiratory arrest, notify appropriate personnel according to well-established procedures, and initiate CPR if necessary.
Operate at the level of a system owner and routinely check status of MUSE computer, troubleshooting as necessary, and notify appropriate service and user personnel when troubleshooting procedures fail. Notify all affected remote ECG sites if computer is to be shut down for longer than thirty minutes.
Maintain appropriate logs for statistical and accounting purposes, and perform calculations for required reports.
Assist in Quality Assurance monitoring; environmental controls; infection control standards, and equipment selection, operation, application and inventory, making evaluation and recommendation to supervisor.
Perform various clerical duties such as: answer and correctly route telephone calls, schedule procedures per doctors' orders, enter data on CRT terminal, direct patients, visitors, salespeople, etc. to their respective destinations, and reconcile patient charges. Maintain work areas and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. Inform supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment.
Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
Current CPR (Heartsaver).
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous ECG experience preferred.
