This position will oversee the department’s data management, systems administration, analysis, and reporting needs. The successful candidate will be able to manage and maintain the integrity of the Raisers Edge database, enforcing policies and procedures, and accuracy of data; will design complex queries, import & export data, and create and run reports. Responsibilities also include supporting and training staff in use of Raisers Edge and other fundraising software programs.
He or she will be the analyst and steward of data services as they pertain to the processing of gifts, the reckoning of gift data, and the processing of information acquired from outside sources that will be used for specific fundraising enterprises.
The latter includes the study of external lists and proposed strategies for the maintenance and incorporation of demographic and statistical data. He or she will be responsible for servicing all technical needs related to the maintenance and processing of gifts, and will be instrumental in the development of current and future systems for such.
Essential Functions of Job:
Design, write, and establish Grand View’s procedures and policies for the use of The Raiser’s Edge software and maintain the procedures and policies manual.
Provide the Advancement and Alumni Relations departments with budget/forecast information while constantly striving for innovative and more agile ways to extract data from Raiser’s Edge, transforming it into actionable information, and presenting it in an elegant way.
Provide vision, direction, and structure to a soon to be implemented web-based planning/donation tool.
Develop teaching curricula for the standardization and usage of development software and train staff members on new software packages and evolving RE processes. Support users, both by troubleshooting issues directly and accessing external support as necessary.
Facilitate the design, maintenance, and use of Advancement’s Raiser’s Edge centralized donor database, coordinating the use of this and other database resources throughout Grand View. ·
Researching and analyzing data and preparing ad hoc and custom reports as for all aspects of the Advancement and Alumni Relations departments.
Coordinate and conduct all data operations including, but not limited to gift and data entry, queries, reports, imports, exports, mail house lists, duplicate resolution, custom reports, donor recognition, communications, and analyses with Grand View’s fundraising database.
Generate address files for in-house mailings and massage lists acquired from outside sources for use in future appeals. The latter will require a knowledge of programming and database manipulation. Guarantee parallelism and quality in all Advancement electronic lists maintained at Grand View.
Develop and maintain a system for the accurate tracking of philanthropic bequests that cannot be tracked as actual gifts in the development software.
Responsible for reconciling, on a monthly and annual basis, all gifts and pledges with financial records in Grand View’s Business Office.
Ensure the integrity of the database by identifying, implementing, and documenting the on-going data clean-up processes. Provide research for ongoing process improvement of organization's data management policies and practices .
Work with other departments in the regular acquisition of internal lists that require maintenance and updating. Conduct, troubleshoot and resolve exceptions with imports into The Raisers Edge.
Monitor Raiser’s Edge websites and other communications to maintain current knowledge of the software and its use.
Work with Information Technology personnel to plan and implement database updates by reviewing Raiser’s Edge software updates and patches and approving them for Information Technology.
Serve as the primary liaison between Advancement and Information Technology in regard to the Advancement database.
As occasions arise, represent Advancement’s database-related interests to the College community.
Create and maintain a schedule for continuous learning about The Raiser’s Edge, Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, and as necessary, other software applications used in Advancement.

Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
2. 3-5 years of experience with Raiser’s Edge, SQL Server, Transact SQL or Crystal Reports is preferred.

4. A highly developed understanding of database systems; expertise in relational database queries, import/export and reporting functions.
5. Full working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, mail merges and other standard software applications.

Hours are Monday - Friday 8:15-4:30 during the academic year and 8:00-4:00 during the summer.
