The EDS Project Manager will lead transmission and substation programs, process improvements, and selected distribution projects to ensure successful execution.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Lead the Facility General Routing and Siting process for Transmission & Substation facilities (i.e. meetings with landowners, public open house events, make presentations to Board of Trustees, etc.).
Lead cross functional teams to assure projects and programs are delivered within scope, schedule and budget.
Lead process improvement teams related to improving project delivery.
Manage schedules, critical paths and their variances in order to complete project in a timely manner.
Manage project risks and coordinates the work of various CPS Energy departments, internal resources, external agencies, consultants and contractors.
When required, meet with customers, state and local agencies, civic associations, business and community leaders, property owners and attorneys.
Read and interpret construction design/contract documents and determine if contractors will be able to complete projects as stated.
Assist with integration of resources and budgets for capital expenditures and coordinate project closeout.
Perform various analytical related works as required, such as project budget, costs, and schedule projections.
Track contract administration and resource scheduling for capital projects.
Provide timely notification and resolution of project changes and risks.
Report achievement of financial and operating goals and provide regular progress reports and project updates in accordance with accepted project management best practices and procedures.
Participate in Substation & Transmission Monthly Project Update meetings.
Identify and encourage safe working practices.
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited four-year university
Strong background and proven experience in designing, leading or project-managing substation, transmission, distribution, and/or electric utility projects.
Effective leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain productive and efficient working relationships with consultants, contractors, supervisors and departmental officials.
Knowledge and experience of project management methodologies, and/or standard engineering and construction practices for substation, transmission, distribution, and/or electric utility projects, and/or experience with contracts and agreements.
Working knowledge and experience with automated project management scheduling software such as Microsoft Projects and or SAP project systems and/or WMIS.
Proficient in latest commercial versions of Microsoft applications to include Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work safely under various working or jobsite conditions with a safe working history.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.
Project Management Professional (PMP) credential.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead Teams as well as function as a team player.
Ability to properly develop project schedules and enforce procedures to achieve stated project time and cost objectives.
Coordination of multiple large-scale projects and ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding schedule overruns and change orders.
Working knowledge of procurement and accounting practices.
