Assist with teaching educational programs on basic nutrition, food safety, food preparation, and budgeting to low-income adults with children, using standardized curriculum materials based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans; recruit participants by collaborating with community agencies and organizations; assess participants’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors to determine level of educational needs using standardized evaluation instruments; provide information to participants about the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and other USDA nutrition assistance programs; maintain accurate and complete records/reports for all activities, as required by the sponsor agency and by OSU Extension; maintain confidentiality of participants and their individual records.

HS Graduate or Equivalent; must be indigenous to the community and have a knowledge of the community’s infrastructure and culture; ability to teach, network with other individuals and agency representatives, recruit participants, and learn nutrition and nutrition-related information as outlined in the project are all necessary; ability to establish a rapport with persons from different ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds; must have access to private transportation to reach various work and training sites; must be available to work weekdays as well as occasional evenings and weekends.
