The Division of Extended Campus is seeking a Student Success and Support Services Director. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Associate Provost.
The director of the Student Success and Support Services (SSSS) unit provides leadership and administrative management to the Student Success and Support Services unit within the Division of Extended Campus. The division is a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization with a commitment to providing access to Oregon State University's programs of excellence that administers Oregon State Ecampus (online degrees), Open Oregon State (online resources), Ecampus Research Unit, Summer Session, and Professional and Continuing Education. The Student Success and Support Services unit provides innovative and effective student support, community building and academic counseling services for OSU's online and distance students. This includes support for students who are distance degree and non-degree seeking, graduate and undergraduate, as well as on-campus students who are taking online courses. This position reports directly to the Associate Provost of the Division of Extended Campus.
The Student Success and Support Services unit Director coordinates with other Ecampus directors, as well as relevant OSU academic and administrative units, in the strategic planning and development of existing and new support services for distance/online students. The director will act as the liaison to administrative and academic units in support of student success initiatives. This position will create and implement retention strategies, and provide advocacy for the online learner. The director also initiates and directs special programs and contracts related to distance/online student support services. The director determines immediate and long-range goals, objectives and assessments for support programs delivered to distance/online students.
Typically requires Master's degree in related field with 3-5 years' experience in management and supervisory responsibilities.
Master’s Degree in Education, Student Affairs, College Student Services Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of five years' professional experience working in the area of student support services.
Understanding of a university academic environment and the ability to work with advisors, faculty and departments throughout the institution.
Demonstrated experience successfully participating in, building and leading effective work teams that includes providing direct leadership and supervision.
Demonstrated professional competence in effective oral and written communication, and interpersonal communications.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSUSTANDARD 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
