The Eberly Center's mission is to distill the research on learning for faculty and graduate students and collaborate with them to design and implement meaningful educational experiences. We are seeking a Visual/Multimedia Designer to create visual, multimedia, and communications materials for a variety of instructional design projects, educational technology projects, and communications design needs. This position reports to the Director of Ed Tech & Design and works in collaboration with various members of the Eberly Center team to understand and articulate design requirements, provide creative input throughout the design process, and produce designs that meet the various requirements.
Provide visual, multimedia, communications, and user interface designs for a variety of instructional design projects, educational technology projects, and communications materials; produce high quality end products for web, digital, multimedia, and print.
Collaborate with team members to understand, articulate, and prioritize design requirements.
Produce designs, artwork, working mockups, and code to meet project goals/requirements.
Coordinate/project manage various Eberly Center communications projects.
Create documentation and other support resources for the tools and services provided by the Eberly Center and provide additional support, as needed, responding to incoming requests for help using these tools.
You will have strong visual and multimedia design skills, a proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, web design/development process, and Microsoft Office. You will also proficiency with general web development standards and tools (e.g., html5, css3, web content management systems). We are looking for someone who has a solid design process (e.g., ideation on paper, incorporate feedback on design ideas, work with tools to mockup, iterate with feedback, create final design, proof, revise, publish) and the ability to manage a variety of competing projects and deadlines. You are someone who listens carefully, especially when working with clients and clarifying project goals/needs.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in visual design, multimedia design, user interface design or related field, or equivalent in work experience.
A portfolio of work demonstrating the skills associated with this position.
Experience in higher education is preferred.
A proven record of working collaboratively with others; works effectively in diverse teams (including disciplinarily diverse).
Experience working with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas) or other online course development platforms preferred.
Working knowledge of digital accessibility standards and experience applying those preferred.
Knowledge of social media platforms and social media management tools preferred.
