Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) for Quality Management
Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital (HCPH) in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area is currently recruiting for a Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS).
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for: •Abstracting and entering data, sending monthly data as required, analyzing data and developing the quarterly scorecard and submitting to the Director of Quality Management. •Performing data integrity reviews. Identifying aberrant data and opportunities for improvement. •Assisting facility leaders and senior managers in completion of reports to Governing Body, Central Office, Regional Executive Committee and others as requested. •Routinely monitoring the Joint Commission (TJC) web site and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) Hospitals Conditions of Participation (COP) requirements, and creating power points or newsletters about TJC and CMS changes. •Working with leadership to ensure policies, standards and conditions of participation are being met and followed. This entails meeting with leadership and other staff, conducting mock surveys (or tracer activities) at three Eastern Missouri psychiatric facilities. •Attending workshops or seminars to keep up to date to TJC standards and CMS COPs. •Collecting and analyzing reports for senior leaders. •Facilitating Root Cause Analyses (RCA), Pro-Active Risk Assessments (PARA), performance improvement teams and continuous quality improvement activities. Responsible for accurately documenting the results of performance improvement activities, action plan development and on-going compliance with approved action plans. •Attending, facilitating or actively participating in various meetings including but not limited to: Patient Safety, Medication Usage, Medical Record Review, Quality Council, Clinical Managers Committee, Environment of Care, and Leadership meetings. •Identifying, developing, and/or enhancing activities that promote client safety and encourage a reduction in patient safety events, errors and near misses.
Qualifications: Must meet the Experience and Education Requirements outlined in the official OA Job Description for a Quality Assurance Specialist. More information at: www.ease.mo.gov The candidate must have advance experience working with Microsoft Access (building databases/pulling reports), Excel, Word, and Outlook. The candidate must be flexible and able to work on different projects simultaneously. The candidate’s work products must be timely and accurate. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in working in a health care setting for Quality Improvement, accreditation and federal surveys, and working knowledge of TJC Hospital and Behavioral Standards and CMS COPs for Hospitals is highly preferred. In addition, the well-qualified candidate will have experience with Lean, Six Sigma and/or Change Management, with preference given to a candidate who is designated as a Green Belt or higher.
Qualified candidate may possess a clinical or research background in areas such as: Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Statistics, or a closely related field.
