We are currently looking for a Head of Multi-Asset Research Strategies to join the Multi-Asset Solutions group in either San Mateo, CA, or New York, NY. We will also consider our London and Edinburgh offices. This Head of Research oversees the Multi-Asset Solutions Research function and contributes to the ongoing strategic and tactical asset allocation strategy for the team. This position is responsible for tapping into the expertise of the other research teams across the organization to help drive multi-asset research strategies for the firm. The position oversees all facets of multi-asset research including markets, asset class research, manager research, and quantitative analysis. This position has oversight of the Global Investment Committee and is responsible for determining the asset allocation strategy for investment strategies managed by the Multi-Asset Solutions team. Also, serves as one of the senior spokespeople within the division internally and externally in conferences.
Directs the organization's research activities inclusive of markets, strategic and tactical asset allocation, manager due diligence/selection, fundamental research, asset class coverage, and quantitative analysis. Responsible for continuously refining and optimizing research processes, technologies, etc. leveraged by the group.
Ensures cross-collaboration within the team and across the organization. Can evaluate and tap into the expertise of other research teams across the organization.
Oversees the Global Investment Committee - setting the asset allocation strategy for the organization. Plays a leadership role in the development of multi-asset class investment solutions.
Assists where needed with sales and relationship management activities
Represents Multi-Asset Solutions as a thought leader at industry conferences, with current and prospective sophisticated clients and consultants, and with the media
Leads a global organization of research staff. Reviews/optimizes team structure, develops staff, and resolves escalated employee issues, accountable for the research budget and management of external sources of research
Qualifications Ideal candidates will have:
Bachelor's degree. CFA and/or MBA a plus.
Extensive multi-asset research experience, extensive leadership as Director of Research, with a focus in solutions research strongly preferred. May also have a background as an economist or in asset class strategist role.
Excellent public speaking skills, ability to engage audiences, and the ability to present complex information in a simplified manner
Global macro-economic perspective
Deep understanding of global markets
Ability to build financial models while displaying a clear understanding of accounting principals and cash flow analysis.
Ability to talk passionately and persuasively about Multi-Asset investment process and markets to sophisticated institutional clients and consultants, as well as less sophisticated clients
Business development, planning and implementation skills
A thought leader with excellent communication skills and expert-level knowledge of market trends, challenges and regulatory issues facing institutional clients
Executive presence, stature and proven ability to influence clients at multiple levels of the organization.
Teamwork oriented collaborator and leader who can build consensus around complex and fluid issues.
