Description of Responsibilities This position supports the research, Extension, and programmatic/administrative activities of the department head of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering. Responsibilities may include organization and analysis of data using spreadsheets, creation of databases, extracting and organizing reports, Google and/or Qualtrics forms/surveys, targeted search and review of literature, developing drafts of presentations, suggesting and making revisions to web pages, and assisting with day-to-day productivity/organization tasks of the department head such as calendar, email, and voicemail management, drafting communication pieces, and making travel arrangements. The approximate weighting of the duties and responsibilities are as follows:
50% Project Management
Plan and establish work goals, tasks, and resources required to complete research initiatives, research related projects and coordinate new and existing programs
Create and maintain spreadsheets and databases
Review of literature
Develop drafts of presentations
50% Administrative Support:
Assist with day-to-day productivity/organizational tasks of the department head such as calendars, email, and voicemail management
Assist other departmental staff as needed, in areas of department advancement and student recruitment/retention
Schedule and coordinate meetings and logistics
Extract and organize reports
Process financial transactions in compliance with department and University policies, including creating purchase orders, reconciling p-card and submitting reimbursements
Draft communication pieces
Make travel arrangements
**This position is represented by a bargaining unit, AFSCME Cleerical. Dues or fair share deductions will be made**
High School Diploma/GED and five years related experience to include project management. Post-secondary coursework in a science or engineering field may substitute for some years of experience. Other disciplines may be considered depending on experience.
Demonstrated ability with productivity software, including word processing (MS Word or Pages), spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Numbers), and presentation (PowerPoint or Keynote).
Associate degree and/or post-secondary coursework in a related science or engineering field or a combination of post-secondary education and work experience to equal six years.
Demonstrated research experience.
Demonstrated ability with database creation and use (Microsoft Access or other), and Google apps, including Google drive, Google Docs/Sheets, Google Sites, Google Forms.
Familiarity and/or experience with OSx and iOS operation and applications
Demonstrated familiarity and experience with mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets
Web content management experience
Experience managing Learning Management Systems such as Moodle or Canvas
Ability to perform and independently complete projects and tasks while utilizing strategic thinking skills and knowledge to achieve results
