The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine seeks candidates for the position of Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor for the Master of Medical Science (MMS) Physician Assistant (PA) program. This is a ranked full time non-tenure track faculty position. The UMKC School of Medicine is dedicated to its vision to be a leader in the academic medicine through innovative programs and vibrant community partnerships. The MMS PA began in 2014. It is a 29 month (7 semester) program and admits 20 students per cohort. Faculty members have opportunities and support for scholarly activities and faculty development including tuition reduction. UMKC is a comprehensive public teaching and research university with more than 15,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students representing all 50 states, 73 countries, and includes 35% students of color
Responsibilities: As a member of the principal faculty, in accordance with ARC-PA standards, this individual will extensively work with the Program Director to coordinate and deliver the didactic and clinical curriculum. The individual will have course director and teaching responsibilities in areas of knowledge and expertise. Additional faculty member duties are to: participate in student admissions activities; provide student academic advising and evaluation; assist in clinical preceptor/site recruitment, development and retention; participate in ARC-PA accreditation processes and university assessment; and have a role in university service activities.
Minimum requirements for this position include graduation from an accredited PA program, hold or working toward a Master's degree, eligibility for Missouri PA licensure, and current NCCPA-certification. Previous teaching experience is desirable. The candidate should be highly motivated and organized as well as possess excellent communication skills.
