We are looking to fill two roles. One located on the East Coast and the other located on the West Coast. The East Coast role can be located in Stamford, New York, Chicago or Boston and the West Coast role will be located in San Mateo.
The VP Consultant Relations will be responsible for building and managing consultant relations efforts for key consultant relationships (across home office, research and field offices) in the designated region of the US. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with consulting firms as well as internal business partners, including portfolio management, product management and distribution. In addition to the core focus on attaining and maintaining strategy ratings across Franklin Templeton's broad capabilities, , the successful candidate will also be challenged to provide timely industry related insights on key trends developing in the marketplace, including search and product development trends.
The VP role will be an integral member of the Consultant Relations team and the Financial Institutions Group with expectation to embrace and succeed in a collaborative/team working environment.
Responsible for building strategic relationships with global, national and regional consultants by enhancing FT Institutional' s brand, market and product positioning within the institutional consulting community.
Develop and execute strategic business plans to identify asset growth opportunities (i.e. search activity); maintain strong ratings for existing client exposure; increase exposure/approval ratings for institutional investment focus strategies across distinct FTI investment platforms.
Establish and maintain active relationships with multiple investment strategy research analysts and field consultants. Key consultant relationships important to the East Coast based position may include: AON HEK, Cambridge Associates, NEPC, Rocaton, Segal Marco, Willis Towers Watson, Rocaton and others. Key relationships pertinent to the West Coast role may include: Callan, Pension Consulting Alliance, Russell Investments, RVK, Verus and Wilshire Associates.
Facilitate investment communications, reviews and due diligence initiatives for assigned consultants with an in-depth understanding of multiple institutional investment strategies
Facilitate the communication of consultant-led opportunities across internal Franklin Templeton partners
Serve as central contact and coordinator for all assigned consultant-led requests-for-proposals and other related sales opportunities.
Execute on established goals of product ratings, sales activity and client retention within defined consultant coverage.
Monitor and deliver planned actions with consultants, including database & questionnaire responses ensuring completeness, accuracy & timeliness of delivery.
Communicate opportunities to enhance existing strategies and develop new products through ongoing dialogue and relationship building with consultants.
Engage, communicate & report in a timely manner with internal stakeholders within FT (Distribution - USIS Sales/RM, USAS, IAG, Mid-Office Client Service, Portfolio, Product Marketing, Product Management, RFP, Database Services, etc.).
Communicate consultant ratings to our key business partners; participate in pre and post-finals calls with consultants and the USAS Institutional team; communicate important developments during consultant meetings
Identify and communicate industry trends (asset allocation and search) and consultant activity to business partners across FT
Complete meeting agendas, pre-meeting notes and call reports in a timely manner and ensure adequate metrics reporting is submitted and tracked timely.
Complete requested special/ad-hoc reports/assignments in a timely manner.
Strong understanding of investment strategies/products across asset classes (eg. equity, fixed, alternatives & solutions) and market dynamics is desired
Experience working with Institutional Consultants in the designated region is a plus
Series 7, 63 & 3 licenses (or ability to obtain)
CFA /ability to work towards CFA certification desired
Excellent sales/relationship/representation skills with in-depth product/investment knowledge across multiple asset class.
Strong understanding of investments and investment process
An understanding and exposure to institutional investment consultants/gatekeepers.
Stature and experience needed to cover key consultant relationships.
