A Genetic Counselor position is available at Texas Children’s Cancer Center and Baylor College of Medicine to provide genetic counseling services clinically and through research protocols to pediatric oncology patients and their families as a part of a pediatric cancer genetics and genomics program in Houston, TX. Position details include:
Participate in clinical research examining the implementation of germline and tumor genomic testing and delivery of services into the care of a diverse childhood cancer population across the state of Texas.
Participate in providing genetic consultations and education to oncologists in a national clinical research trial providing tumor and germline testing to recurrent and refractory pediatric oncology patients.
Conduct preliminary clinical intake and provide genetic counseling and follow-up for pediatric patients and their families at risk for inherited cancer susceptibility syndromes.
Aid in education of medical fellows in both hematology-oncology and medical genetics.
Interpret and deliver germline genomic test results to patients via in-person visits as well as telemedicine.
Work with research project coordinators to aid in enrollment and consent for clinical research trials.
Engage in research specific to provision of genomic testing and genetic counseling with a focus on diversity.
Serve on national research consortium committees.
Masters' degree in Genetics or related field. Board-eligible or Board Certified as a Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. No previous experience required. Fluency in Spanish preferred.
