Cornell is seeking an HR Associate to provide customer support and human resource services on a wide-range of HR processes, policies, procedures and activities for IPP, a values-based organization dedicated to the principles of Truth, Respect, Excellence, Teamwork, and Integrity.

Must be able to effectively interact in a professional manner with a diverse population (directors, managers, staff, etc.) who have a variety of needs. Gain a solid understanding of the Infrastructure Properties and Planning organization in order to develop strong, trusting relationships and to provide excellent service to the organization. Proactively partner with managers and staff on various aspects of human resources management including independently providing advice and guidance. Provide policy and Contract interpretations and provide guidance as appropriate.
Facilitate the full cycle recruitment and hiring process, working closely with hiring managers and search committee members, including job description revision, developing recruitment strategy, identifying key competencies, posting and marketing positions, reviewing applicant materials, providing advice and recommendations to the search committee and assisting with the interview and reference checking processes while ensuring compliance with AA/EEO laws and policies. Provide consistent administration of human resource activities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as University policies and bargaining unit contracts.
In collaboration with other members of AHR, develop resources and tools to aid in human resources management, implement best practices, and ensure a high level of value-added customer service. Handle all information with tact and discretion and maintain high degree of confidentiality. Create and maintain a positive work environment. Provide administrative and project support for HR-related activities and issues. Develop and conduct training on various HR topics depending upon business needs. Participate in continuous learning and specialized training in key human resources functional areas to enhance professional knowledge and skill. Initiate, troubleshoot, and review HR transactions. Ensure that all actions are timely, complete, and accurate and that all required processes, procedures, policy, contractual and legal requirements are met.

Associates Degree with 4 to 5 years related experience in human resources, labor relations, business, or related area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle sensitive information with tact and discretion.
Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with varied audiences at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated experience creating key metrics and developing well-informed reports including providing observations and recommendations.
Ability to effectively manage multiple competing deadlines, assignments and projects in a proactive, solution-oriented manner while setting priorities appropriately and paying close attention to details and accuracy.Demonstrated ability to work independently, use sound judgment in decision making, and contribute to the development of a highly successful, team-oriented work environment.
Ability to maintain ethical workplace practices.
Demonstrated skills and experience with office productivity software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Ability to utilize software to perform analysis, including pivot tables, merging files, producing graphs from multiple data sources.
Additional advanced experience with payroll software, reporting tools, and/or database management is highly preferred. Previous work experience in a union or collective bargaining environment, or experience assisting with employee relations is preferred. Advanced experience with recruitment/candidate management software, HRIS databases, and/or payroll management systems is also highly preferred.
