PROVIDESTEACHINGFOCUS TO TRAINEES (INPATIENT, OUTPATIENT, CONSULTATION, FORENSICANDCOMMUNITYHEALTHMODEL/SYSTEM OF CAREINTEGRATIONMODEL), ANDCOLLABORATESWITHMID-LEVELPROVIDERS. THESEPOSITIONSARECRITICAL TO MAINTAINSAFELEVELS OF CARERELATIVE TO INPATIENTCAPACITYANDOUTPATIENTDEMAND.
Teaching – 5% Teach public child and adolescent psychiatry to medical students, Nurse Practitioners and graduate trainees.
Service – Departmentally assigned committees
Clinical – 70% Provide Consultation/Liaison; Outpatient clinics and rotational inpatient clinical services to Child and Adolescent patients with mental health and/or developmental/intellectual disabilities, on site at VTCC, through community sites and/or telepsychiatry. This includes consultation with pediatricians, parents, schools, and other community team members.
Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.) – 5% Attends grand rounds; Participates in CME activities; Professional development activities; Good citizenship activities. 20% includes additional Pediatric training and staff consultation / liaison to the Pediatric Departments under CHoR, Pediatric Emergency Department which are not billable services.
MD/DO BE/BC CHILDANDADOLESCENTPSYCHIATRISTWITHINTEREST IN WORKING IN PUBLICPSYCHIATRY. LICENSED OR ELIGIBLEFORLICENSE TO PRACTICE IN VIRGINIA.
Demonstrated experience working within an interdisciplinary team to serve Children & Adolescents on an inpatient/CL/ outpatient basis. Population includes intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum, and mental health.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse community team, faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Demonstrated experience working in collaboration with Pediatrics.
Rotational call for inpatient services and admissions.
Familiarity with or in Virginia's public psychiatry setting.
Experience with co-morbid medical and mental health disorders.
Experience in telepsychiatry.
Experience in teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
