Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Night and weekend shifts as necessary.

Entry Qualifications: To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical, information network systems is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, industrial technology, telecommunications or a related technical field, or equivalent training and experience. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Network Analyst include a basic knowledge of telecommunications and transmission technologies, including network architecture, topologies, protocols, programming applications and interfaces appropriate to the defined work area and assignments. Based on specialized assignments, a position may also require background, and/or licensure if required, in computer operating systems, broadcast network functions, or telecommunication switching systems.
Under general supervision of the Lead Network Analyst and reporting to the Associate Vice President for Technology Operations and Customer Support, the incumbent will work cooperatively and independently to plan, design, engineer, operate, troubleshoot, support, maintain, and monitor the campus local area, wide area, and wireless network. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform network administration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and provide user support as it relates to network services.
Controlling network activity to ensure sound and secure operations.
Ensuring appropriate integration of data, voice, and video networks.
Provide consultative support and services to campus technicians by frequently responding to impromptu questions from staff related to network technology, training and advising on the use of managed systems, and will provide guidance to student technicians as needed.
Provide technical advice and expertise in researching and evaluating the purchase of new equipment, technologies, and/or software.
Coordinating and monitoring multiple concurrent projects relating to the expansion and maintenance of existing network facilities and resources.
Work on ITS, campus-wide or system-wide projects at times.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in computer science, engineering, industrial technology, telecommunication or a related field, or equivalent training and experience.
Minimum of two years of experience in a network, telecommunication, or cybersecurity field.
Technical knowledge and experience with networking protocols and troubleshooting techniques for wired and wireless connectivity; network configurations of switches and routers; and protocols enabling user connectivity for wired and wireless resources.
Working knowledge of SNMP network monitoring devices; logging and data collection and correlation; network security principles and implementation methods.
Working knowledge of computer and server hardware/software including: Windows, Macintosh, and/or Linux computer systems OS, and software applications.
Working knowledge of video conferencing technologies, telephony, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), network management and monitoring and other telecommunication services.
Basic working knowledge of enterprise virtualization technologies including VMWare.
General knowledge of software and Windows systems in a networked environment using Active Directory and Group Policy Objects, along with installation and maintenance procedures.

Proven ability to use specified software application packages and query and interpret variance reports and resolve connectivity, traffic, and congestion problems as they impact services provided.

Ability to monitor many service aspects simultaneously without loss of data integrity or security.
Ability to use consultative skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate technical support for connectivity, systems, and applications.
Ability to install and implement various software applications; analyze and troubleshoot system connection and interface issues, and resolve hardware and/or software problems.
Ability to interpret and apply computing and network standards, protocols, policies, operating procedure, technical specifications, license agreements, confidentiality compliance, copyright laws, etc. to the computing environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate professionally with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to translate and relate technical details to individuals who possess various technical proficiencies.
Ability to manage and organize multiple tasks, interpret written information and instructions, establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and members of the outside community.
Ability to function cooperatively and productively as a member of a team.
Demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
Special Desired Skills:
Experience with configuring, managing, or certified in various Alcatel-Lucent, HPE/Aruba, Palo Alto networking devices; designing and implementing networks with switches, routers, firewalls and VPN devices; configuring wireless access points and controllers; and providing technical support for a variety of information technology needs.
Experience with configuring and managing, Cisco Unified Communication Manager, IP Contact Center, Unity Connection, Attendant Console.
Good project planning skills and ability to interpret trends and forecast network situations from system data.
