Duties & Responsibilities:
Student Affairs & Advising
Advise current students on all aspects of the program to assist them through degree completion; including registration, necessary authorizations, monitoring degree progress, and providing information to director and faculty director of any problems or unmet requirements.
Counsel students experiencing academic or personal problems and make referrals to appropriate campus resources when necessary.
Manage and oversee logistics of MSIS annual large-scale events such as the speaker series and graduation ceremony. Choose locations, coordinate equipment/supplies, negotiate contracts, develop and create attendee materials.
Work collaboratively with Director in the development and implementation of a variety of student programs, events/activities and services. Examples include mentorship program, practicum projects and leadership workshops.
Develop visually appealing promotional material, publications and other media for events, courses and program activities.
Develop and execute strategies for student engagement including, but not limited to, class day activities, program events, and social media channels.
Work closely with the Recruiting and Admissions Administrator on post-admit processing and preparation for orientation to provide a smooth transition from applicant to student.
Collaborate with Director to develop and implement retention strategies for the MSIS program. Oversee activities to introduce students to available community services and campus resources.
Clear students for graduation.
Work closely with the Foster alumni team to develop and maintain an alumni relations program.
Plan and manage alumni events.
Build relationships with alumni and develop ways to engage them in program activities and UW initiatives. Work with Admissions and Recruiting Administrator to engage alumni in program recruiting activities.
Represent the program at school-wide alumni events and other community business functions.
Develop and distribute alumni communications and newsletters working with alumni, staff and faculty to develop content of interest.
Manage quarterly MSIS time schedule, textbook orders and course evaluation requests. Liaison with faculty regarding course schedule and syllabi. Produce quarterly information for current students.
Process and monitor student course enrollments, tuition charges and scholarship allocations.
Maintain student records in the program's CRM.
Develop and manage student surveys for program assessment and reporting purposes.
Design, develop and maintain the program's courses in Canvas, our online learning management system.

Bachelor's Degree in business, social sciences, education or related field plus 2-3 years of experience in an advising/counseling capacity in an educational or non profit setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven success working in a highly collaborative professional environment.
Strong technological savvy and a high level of proficiency with the MS Office Suite.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and initiative. Demonstrated ability to manage diverse work assignments and priorities that range in duration and time sensitivity.
Resourceful, innovative and solution-oriented attitude.
Ability to relate positively with culturally diverse populations.
Flexibility and ability to support evening and Saturday program events and activities when needed.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
MA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working in a university setting.
Familiarity with CRM systems.
