STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The College is seeking a committed, innovative, and energetic instructor to teach courses in Health Information Management Technology Program and Medical Coding certificate and carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
SUPERVISION REQUIRED: Reports to the Dean of Health Sciences
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and schedules student Professional Practice Experience (PPEs).
Promotes positive relationships with external PPE sites.
Prepares instructional course syllabi and materials.
Develops instructional materials for traditional face-to-face or online learning environment.
Advises students currently enrolled and applying to Medical Coding and Health Information Management Technology.
Accesses information on current issues through various forms of communications (i.e. e-mail and print correspondence, website, and publications) for college employment and education of students.
Maintains student records in compliance with the College Policies.
Selects and implements instructional resources and electronic materials.
Maintains and demonstrates a high level of professional ethics.
Attends and participates in college, division, and program committees and meetings.
Demonstrates the ability to work as a team member and promote a positive work environment.
Maintains professional credentials through continuing education and attendance at professional meetings for HIM and Higher Education.
Performs other duties as assigned consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree; coding or RHIT credential; excellent communication skills; experience with technology common in medical/clinical practice and teaching; experience in clinical documentation improvement, healthcare data analysis, or revenue cycle management; knowledge of computer applications commonly used in the field and ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATONS: Certification as a RHIA or RHIT; Master's Degree; experience with electronic health records, health informatics, healthcare privacy and security, HIM and/or revenue cycle administrative/management experience; curriculum development skills; prior teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting; knowledgeable in educational methodologies, and accreditation and certification procedures; demonstrated evidence of cooperation and collaboration with staff, administrators and colleagues; experience in a variety of healthcare settings and ability to speak a language in addition to English.
POSITION STATUS: Full-time, tenure track, MCCC/MTA unit position with benefits.
SALARY: Minimum salary $42,662.00 to $79,782.00 - actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
