UC is one of the largest employers in the Cincinnati region, employing over 15,000 full time and part time faculty, staff and student workers. The Academic Health Center, Center of Communication Services and Duplicating is recruiting for a full-time (100% FTE) Production Coordinator.
Under general supervision from a designated administrator and/or management, coordinate production of printing orders throughout entire printing process; estimate and write specifications on costs and order material as needed.
80% Characteristic Duties
Coordinate production of printing orders throughout printing process for various departments and agencies; coordinate scheduling and processing to meet clients' requirements.
Estimate job cost on basis of paper (e.g., finish, weight, quantity) and process (e.g., art work, composition, presswork, bindery operations and special features); prepares specifications.
Act in advisory capacity to departments and agencies providing information and suggestions on economical format and production reports.
Maintains job records and production reports.
Work with a variety of software
Order necessary supplies.
Perform related duties based on departmental need, i.e. some heavy lifting will be necessary, Deliveries, Bindery, inventory stock, pulling and shelving stock, unload trucks of material in warehouse etc.
20% Characteristic Duties
Provides skilled production duties in the Pre-press department layout, proofing and plate production of all offset projects and sends appropriate files to all digital printing devices.
Operates, maintains, and prioritizes the operation of all production devices and projects.
Maintains mechanical adjustments to the equipment, as necessary, to ensure the quality of all projects.
Reviews all job tickets to ensure accuracy of work. May respond to requests and inquiries from clients.
Collaborates with the Graphics, Digital, Offset Press and Bindery departments to ensure all files are correct and proofed prior to printing. Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies required to complete projects.
May provide training to new employees.
May provide work direction and guidance to personnel within the department. May lead projects and activities.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree with one (1) year experience; -OR- Associate's degree with three (3) years' experience; -OR- five (5) years' experience. Must have related experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
Three years' publication or print shop experience
Three years' experience in pre-press department of an offset and digital environment
This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
