The Quality/Clinical Abstractor is responsible for working to gather and organize data from a variety of clinical sources, including retrospective and concurrent medical record abstraction; accomplishing data acquisition in accordance with department timelines; communicating with others in the department and hospitals when issues pertaining to data quality and or clinical documentation quality and or clinical care arise; preparing reports based on data abstraction; maintaining a level of data acquisition reliability and accuracy that is up to department standards. Education/Training/Certification/Licensure:
NJ licensed RN
Associate Degree Preferred or 2 years prior Core Measure Abstraction and other abstraction (complications, medical staff reviews) experience
2 Years Prior Clinical /Core Measure Data Abstraction Experience a Must
Excellent communication skills are essential.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Access and graphic presentation of data and quality improvement techniques preferred
