MITRE’s Center for Transforming Health is dedicated to improving healthcare through strategic and technology-based transformation. We advise federal agencies through all phases of healthcare modernization and transformation, supporting many of the complex analysis and critical thinking requirements that encompass the agencies’ business, policy, technology, and operational interests. The position provides an exciting opportunity to make a substantive impact in the healthcare environment especially in the area of alternative models of healthcare payment.
Key Functions: The Center for Transforming Health is seeking an experienced leader to serve as the Associate Project Director for a high-visible, high-impact effort to bring external stakeholders together to expand the use of alternative payment models across the healthcare industry. This position requires outstanding leadership, management and interpersonal/engagement skills, and substantial presence in and understanding of the healthcare payer and purchaser communities as related to their adoption and use of approaches to alternative payment models. Knowledge of allied stakeholder communities—notably providers and beneficiaries/healthcare consumers—is also desirable. The Associate Project Director will work with the Project Director to provide thought leadership for the strategic engagement of this effort (applying industry understanding to develop approaches to tasks, presenting creative and optimal solutions to the government) as well as manage the project (recruiting/onboarding staff, identifying and establishing subcontractor agreements, implementing the project infrastructure, establishing/enhancing business processes, etc.). As well, the Associate Project Director will provide strategic insight into approaches to move healthcare payment along the continuum from fee-for-service toward increased use of alternative payment methodologies. The Associate Project Director will be responsible to report to both the government and MITRE leadership. Most importantly, the Associate Project Director will contribute to engaging, managing, and strengthening the project’s stakeholder community (healthcare payers and purchasers, providers, and consumers).
