Year-in and year-out, Central Washington University fields one of the strongest women's rugby programs in the nation regardless of institutional size and is committed to building a nationally recognized and highly competitive NCAA women's program.
The Head Women's Rugby Coach will be responsible for all operational aspects of the women's varsity rugby program, these duties include but are not limited to: day-to-day operations; the recruitment and retention of student-athletes; game strategy including practice and match coaching; fiscal planning and budget development; supervising and evaluating rugby assistants and staff; assisting with scheduling; assisting with donor fundraising; maintain positive and professional relations with students, athletes, alumni, media, and fans; and ensure the women's rugby program, its student-athletes, and the coaching staff are active and collaborative members of the Department of Athletics. The Head Women's Rugby Coach must conduct a Rugby program in compliance with all applicable NCAA, USA Rugby, Conference, Association, State, National, and Institutional rules and regulations. It is also critical that the men's and women's rugby programs work collaboratively in the best interest of both programs are in concert with the University's mission and goals, and which student-athletes graduate and achieve competitive success.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the women's program including game scheduling and those duties outlined below:
- Develop game strategy, including practice, game coaching, and skill development. - Seek out best practice and innovative approaches in rugby; provide a positive performance impact to enhance individual and team player development. - Develop and oversee the off-season training program - Supervise and hire staff; establish job performance standards; evaluate job performance; take corrective action; train; assign and schedule work; act upon leave requests.
Recruitment: - Develop and execute a plan to recruit student-athletes of high character who have the athletic talent to compete at the collegiate varsity level with the academic aptitude to earn a degree. - Guide student athletes to be successful as an athlete and a student - Build a large network to ensure successful recruiting
Budget Management: - Plan yearly budgets; make recommendations to administration - Account for all expenditures and monitor spending - Stay within established scholarship award limits
Media and External Relations: - Participate in radio and television appearance to promote the university and the rugby programs as necessary - Participate in speaking engagements - Develop positive relationships with key rugby correspondents and extend relationships with donor relations. - Active involvement in an upcoming capital campaign.

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years Professional or Collegiate Coaching OR an equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education which clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer competency skills (MS Word, Excel, email, etc.).
Experience recruiting athletes and fundraising for various athletic programs.
Experience working with the media to promote an athletic program.
Knowledge of all applicable individual association rules and regulations;

Working Conditions: Requires extended periods of standing and walking. Occasional sitting, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Outdoor and indoor work will be necessary on a daily basis. A non-traditional work week, hours and days will be required to fulfill job duties. Expect to work nights, weekdays, weekends and sometimes holidays. Extensive travel is required to recruit, attend competitions, conferences, offsite events, etc.
