Manages daily circulation and access operations of Pritzker Legal Research Center while maintaining a high level of customer service; includes responsibility for opening and closing of the service desk; checking in and out circulating materials; managing course reserve, ILL and document delivery services.
Supervises 5 full-time library staff and 3-5 part-time student library assistants to complete library service support work in a timely manner; includes training staff on the use of automated systems such as Alma and ILLiad, and other Access Services duties, including shelving, circulation and entrance services.
In collaboration with the Associate Director for Public Services, coordinates all or portions of the talent management lifecycle (hiring, developing, coaching, rewarding, recognizing, managing information and optimizing talent) for full-time staff and students of the Access Services department in the PLRC.
Oversees stacks maintenance; includes shelving and shifting activities
Reviews access and circulation procedures and recommends changes. Under direction of library management, facilitates implementation of new or changed services; Collects appropriate statistics, prepares reports, assists in assessment planning.
Works in partnership with librarians from Research and Instructional Services and Bibliographic Services to ensure consistent and quality services.
Monitors area facility conditions and directs requests to administration to ensure a functional, comfortable, secure space for patrons.
Attends library and campus meetings as needed or recommended by supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s degree or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Academic library experience in Access Services, ILL, and/or Circulation.
Experience in customer service intensive position, preferably in a library setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish positive working relationships with a wide variety of people ranging from students to peers to faculty members; Ability to resolve patron concerns diplomatically and with good judgment
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft office software
Willingness, availability and flexibility to work a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend hours
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Previous supervisory experience
Knowledge and experience of Alma or other integrated library systems/Library service platform, including all circulation functions
