Job Description - This position is âœassistant coachâ� to the head coach, coaching all positions and both 7â™s and 15â™s. The coaching assistant will have a good working knowledge of the Laws of Rugby Football and be capable of refereeing both team scrimmages and matches. Focus is on backline play for 7â™s and 15â™s. Please note this is a part-time 9-month position scheduled to work 10 hours per week.
All department employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League and ECAC rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the department are to be reported to the appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions are required to maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Athletic Department). Employees in varsity coaching positions are required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test.
3-5 years of rugby playing experience; at least five (5) years preferred.
3-5 years of rugby coaching experience preferred; preferably at both 15â™s and 7â™s and preferably at the collegiate level, club level or higher.
Technical knowledge coaching backline positions for 15â™s and 7â™s helpful.
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Referee experience/registration helpful.
The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background and DMV checks satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment.
