The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, Office of Academic Affairs is seeking an Instructional Technology Specialist to provide professional instructional technology support to the School community. The Instructional Technology Specialist assists faculty and students in the use of technologies in learning and assessment applications using a wide variety of available technologies, such as: Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate, ExamSoft, audience response technology, digital presentation software, and other emerging distance learning (DL) technologies as required.
The Instructional Technology Specialist will provide tier one support to faculty, staff, and students using educational technology applications associated with the delivery and management of the School's academic programs on campus and online. The position will ensure that the delivery of hybrid and online courses utilize technology based on established best-practices within the School, campus, and educational community. This position will focus a significant attention on the day-to-day support issues involved in the use of Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate, and ExamSoft that critically impact the ability for faculty and staff to delivery quality courses and programs to registered students that would adversely impact the School's accreditation standing.

Provide instruction and assistance to faculty, staff, and students on various topics and software applications pertaining to educational technology and computer-based testing. (Including but not limited to Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate, ExamSoft, and other digital content creation tools).
Monitors use and provisions access to educational technologies in use at the School as appropriate.
Assists in the development of instructional resources, professional development, online and blended learning implementation strategies, and provide consultations on technology best practices.
Maintains online resources for the Office of Academic Affairs used to support teaching and learning.
Researches new technologies and best practices to educate faculty and make recommendations for future use.
Support online and distance learning programs offered by the UM School of Pharmacy at University of Maryland and Universities of Maryland at Shady Grove.
Perform other duties as assigned
Education: Bachelor's degree in field and/or related field. Master's degree and/or additional certification is preferred and can be used to substitute for relevant experience. Experience: Two (2) years related experience which includes proficiency with audio/visual, multimedia, video production, or IT resources. Experience in supporting Blackboard Learn and ExamSoft preferred.
Equivalent of six (6) years combination of business audio/visual, multimedia, video production, or IT education/training or instructional design experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design and curriculum development issues in hybrid and distance formats.
Experience using a wide range of educational technologies including learning management systems and computer-based testing platforms.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Writes and presents information in a clear and concise way. Interprets and understands written information and is able to listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others. Capable of interacting pleasantly and positively with other to meet customer expectations, and provide follow up with customers.
Proficient with MS Office, HTML and the Adobe Creative Suite.
Possess excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and initiate follow-up action as necessary. Attention to detail is essential.
