Full Time; Career Starting Salary Range: $57,300-$70,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Under the direction of the campus Senior Grounds Superintendent, the incumbent is responsible for managing the day-to-day landscape maintenance gardener operation. The incumbent directly supervises two Sr. Grounds Supervisors that each oversee eight area gardeners. Gardening services include hardscape cleaning, trash collection, trimming and maintenance of shrubs and groundcovers, planting, weed management, vertebrate and insect management, local storm drain maintenance and more. The incumbent also supervises the activities of the .25 FTE Site Stewardship staff which includes compliance with specific management practices within the Storm Water Management Plan and with off campus agencies and groups to satisfy Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) mitigation requirements.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and goals and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established policies. Determines changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect the organization. Reviews situations and develops solutions. Identifies risks and responds accordingly. May serve as subject matter expert.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
Must possess a valid license to drive in the state of California.
Ability to work with or in proximity of fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides.
Ability to safely move grounds equipment (power blowers, power weed eaters and other hand held power equipment) and supplies while bending and/or stooping. Ability to perform tasks by making judgment so that movement is done safely by using assistance from others, or moving equipment when required.
Experience in managing grounds keeping operations and grounds staff in the maintenance of an institutional campus.
Experience with direct and secondary levels of supervision, including contract compliance, performance management, and fair hiring.
Experience in developing, writing, and ensuring compliance of procedures in all phases of grounds maintenance.
Experience with Planned Maintenance Programs, scheduling and documentation.
Experience with budget analysis, monitoring, and work adjustment for compliance.
