Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSEWork directly with system end-users to develop an understanding of their business needs and how the reports or technology requested will be utilized. Design and develop reports to extract data from the administrative system using COGNOS Report/Query Studio (COGNOS), MS Access or other reporting tools acquired by the university, based on end-user requirements and specifications. Validate and verify accuracy of reports. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system related issues. Provide computer and system related technical support to divisional employees and management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPrepare and maintain inventory of existing standard certified reports from various sources (COGNOS, ORACLE, MS Access). Document report specifications including input, output, filters, conditions and styles. Direct end-users to existing reports that meet their business needs, so as not to duplicate efforts. Recommend modifications and improvements to standard certified reports as necessary to continue to produce required results. Ensure all reports are formatted consistently and are delivered to requestor in presentation-ready format. Collaborate with divisions' end-users to develop new reports, determine desired report contents and parameters. Perform required analysis to ensure the data extracted from the enterprise data repository is accurate and meets the business needs of the end-users. Facilitate individual and group training sessions to encourage division employees' use of the self-service tools available for reporting. Write presentation ready reports based on user requests using MS-Access and COGNOS. Analyze business needs and track ad-hoc report usage to assess and recommend report development priorities for the department. Design, develop, validate, and verify accuracy of new and existing reports.Troubleshoot and facilitate problem resolution for the ERP, network drives and any other data repositories.Assist Data Integrity Associate with analyzing data to identify data integrity issues based on business rules, university policy and best practices. Identify syntactical and semantic data errors; recommend solutions to management, and work with divisional personnel to improve data input and integrity.Assist in the implementation of system upgrades, including testing, data validation and verification. Perform routine data maintenance updates. Assist in the acquisition and verification of new data and subsequent uploads.Adhere to confidentiality and data usage policy for the division. Perform related work as assigned.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Bachelor's degreeAdditional Education Information: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in computer science or related field.Reasonable knowledge and understanding of University policies and procedures. Experience: ExperiencedAdditional Experience Information: Minimum of 4 years experience working with relational data and database management systems; proficient in SQL and PL/SQL.Experience writing reports using COGNOS Report/Query Studio.Experience with Banner Advancement, Ellucian Advance and other enterpriseadministrative systems preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREDCOMMUNICATIONS SKILLS: Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally both orally and in writing.
