ABOUT THE POSITION The BC Nursing Program is situated within the Health Sciences, Education, & Wellness Institute (HSEWI), and is comprised of associate degree nursing (ADN); post-licensure baccalaureate nursing (RN-BSN); continuing nursing education (CNE), which includes a registered nurse refresher (RNR) as well as short courses; and nursing assistant - certified (NAC).
The NAC Program Coordinator performs duties and responsibilities under the general direction of the Dean of HSEWI and is primarily responsible to the Associate Dean of Nursing. This is a part-time, administrative position responsible for coordinating the NAC program that prepares our students -- who come from a diverse and pluralistic population -- to take the Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation (NACES) in Washington State and obtain certification to work as a Nursing Assistant - Certified. In collaboration with the Associate Dean of Nursing, the individual in this position will hire adjunct faculty; allot teaching assignments; and schedule theory, lab, and clinical courses.
COMPENSATION This is a half-time position at an annual salary of $23,791 - $25,027. This position is exempt from overtime. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
Essential Functions/Typical Duties
Work with the the Program Manager on the schedule of courses and maintaining the program calendar:
Review and update online course information sessions
Coordinate teaching hours and clinical assignments; prepare schedule of classes and syllabus template; maintain skills lab schedule
Review and update class resources each quarter while paying attention to the principles of equity and access for all students
Respond to questions from prospective and current students
Facilitate ordering supplies
Communicate with Nursing Advisory Committee as appropriate
Facilitate theory and clinical skills testing (e.g. scheduling, preparation of exams, Scantron, summarize test results, etc.)
Arrange and coordinate student clinical assignments
In collaboration with Program Director, recruit and hire adjunct faculty to teach in the program
Facilitate the continuous approval of the NAC Program by Washington State Dept of Health
Review and retain instructors' evaluations of students
Review and retain students' evaluations of instructors in clinical setting
Quarterly evaluation of student performance with results from National Nurse Aide Assessment Program and Pearson VI-J
Maintain files per requirements
In collaboration with Program Director and Program Manager, prepare documents for Washington State program approval
Participate and attend Washington State meetings related to the NAC Program
Recruit, advise, and support prospective and current students
Provide pre-enrollment advising as necessary
Review applications for completion prior to enrolling students into NAC classes
Meet with students needing assistance, or counseling related to classroom expectations and performance, or in navigating obstacles that underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations may experience in college (e.g. students with disabilities, students of color, first generation college students, LBGTQia students, Veterans, 2nd language learners, etc.)
Complete recommendations for students applying to schools of nursing and other health care programs
Provide reference checks for employment of students
Other duties as assigned
Registered Nurse (RN) with an unencumbered WA State license
1-year experience in direct patient care within the last 3 years, or current experience teaching in an NAC program
Proficient use of MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
Management experience in Long-Term Care or Acute Care
Previous classroom experience and/or clinical teaching experience in nursing or an NAC program
Previous experience addressing disproportionate impact and equity issues in the healthcare or learning environments
Working knowledge of CANVAS learning management system
