Essential Functions/Typical Duties
Healthcare Informatics faculty perform duties and responsibilities under the general direction of the Vice President of Instruction and is responsible primarily to the Dean of the Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Institute (HSEWI). The faculty is responsible for:
Teaching online courses offered through the CANVAS learning management system (LMS) as dictated by program, course schedule, and enrollment demand.
Assessing student learning outcomes and supporting students in achieving course outcomes through the utilization of teaching techniques effective with non-traditional students, including adult learners.
Participating in on-going curriculum development, revision, implementation, and evaluation.
Providing culturally?responsible advising/mentoring to students, including navigating obstacles that underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations may experience in college (e.g. students with disabilities, students of color, first generation college students, LBGTQia students, Veterans, 2nd language learners, etc.)
Participating in college governance and decision-making.
Maintaining current knowledge and skills in areas of assignment, including in cultural versatility.
Engaging in self-reflection and self-evaluation
Building collaborative relationships between Bellevue College and the healthcare communities
Demonstrating a strong commitment to student success through fostering a positive and caring learning environment where diversity and inclusion are advanced.
Master's degree from an accredited institution in health information technology, health informatics, or related field
2 years relevant work experience in health information technology, health informatics, or related field
Knowledge and experience with online learning management systems -- CANVAS experience preferred
Effective collaboration skills with diverse groups and teams
Knowledge of current trends and issues related to health informatics
