Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Application Developer to provide support to the IT Manager of Web Consulting Services (WCS) .This position is responsible for analysis, planning, design, development, implementation, documentation and maintenance of new features and functionality, establishing and guiding the website's architecture, ensuring high-performance and availability. The focus of work involves front-end and mobile website and application development, maintenance and Content Management System administration. The key duties of this position are the following:
Works with various business and technology teams on identifying business requirements and translating them to software features and requirements.
Identifies and suggests business and systems solutions to problems and prepares preliminary cost estimates.
Designs and develops application program from analysis to implementation.
Develops and applies integrated application, system, or network standards as required.
Understands and follows industry technology trends.
Keeps abreast of the latest technologies and considers how they may be used to solve challenges in Enterprise Application Services.
Participates in change management and release management activities.
Identifies and reports risks, issues, and dependencies of assigned tasks/projects.
Participates in the test planning and perform testing activities as needed (including unit, integration, performance and user acceptance testing).
Monitors and performs regular site maintenance activities and performs technical resources planning and support.
Writes and updates requirements, design and user guide documentation to describe systems and access abilities, as required.
Performs various other tasks and duties as assigned to support the leadership team.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
Familiar with virtual DOM
Build reusable code and libraries for future use
Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
Extremely fluent with jQuery
Familiar with making calls to API endpoints (Ajax, JSON, XML)
Familiar with more advanced JS frameworks/libraries (React.js, Angular.js, Vue.js, etc.
Familiar with Node.js and npm, MVC in JS, Sass or Less, PostCSS, Gulp or Grunt, Git, Drupal or WordPress theming
Experience working with PHP and MySql especially within a CMS context (Drupal, WordPress)
Experience designing and developing responsive websites
Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firefox and Chrome Developer Tools, etc.
