Under general direction of the Associate Dean of the Division of Undergraduate Education, this position directs and manages the Scholarship Opportunities Program (SOP), a program that advises competitive UC Irvine undergraduate candidates in applying for prestigious merit scholarships (i.e. Truman, Fulbright, Rhodes, etc.). Responsibilities include program development, planning, management and analysis of program effectiveness. Establishes program mission and long-term vision and develops strategies for achieving objectives while overseeing daily operations. Coordinates the outreach and management of all campus-level application evaluation and endorsement selection processes, which are approved by the Dean of the Division of Undergraduate Education for national and international scholarships that are funded by outside agencies. This position writes campus nomination letters and acts as the institutional representative to the agencies sponsoring awards, serves as a public relations/liaison to promote functions across campus, working with all levels of faculty and administrators on campus. In addition to overseeing daily operations in SOP, the Director also develops strategies to increase UC Irvine visibility and readiness to access national awards.
