Two Postdoctoral positions available immediately for highly motivated candidates with a strong background in neurotrauma and neuroscience to join the Shock, Trauma and Anesthesiology Research (STAR) Organized Research Center at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA. Our research focuses on mechanisms and modulation of cell death and neuroinflammation after experimental brain or spinal cord injury, including molecular and cell biology, animal modeling, behavior and drug discovery. The program is highly interdisciplinary, utilizing molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, behavior, magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy, and quantitative histological analysis. For your convenience, here is the link:
The successful candidate will join an established CNS trauma research laboratory and use rat, transgenic mouse and tissue culture models to examine pathophysiological mechanisms and novel treatments in posttraumatic cell death and microglial modulation, and delineating the signal transduction pathways involved.
In addition, the postdoctoral scholars will be mentored to facilitate their transition to an independent research career through the acquisition of writing and presentation skills and through the development of national and international collaborations. Interested individuals are encouraged to forward an electronic copy of your curriculum vitae and a brief cover letter that includes the name and contact information for three references to Dr. Alan I. Faden (firstname.lastname@example.org).
