PROGRAMMER, Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to work with the academic administrator for undergraduate education to develop a departmental portal and database to serve faculty advisors, students, and administrators. The portal will draw data from the Data Warehouse and departmental database and allow users to, for example, view grades, perform degree audits, view departmental policies/procedures, and run reports. Responsibilities include designing, coding, developing, and testing a database and portal for use by faculty, staff, and students to facilitate access to and reporting on data related to undergraduate students in the department; planning and delivering the data integration process through MIT's Data Warehouse to the new portal; delivering assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner; writing clean, maintainable, and extensible code using platform and industry standards; fixing bugs; writing specialized reports; creating a tool that will flag students who drop a course in their last term; integrating the General Institute Requirements into the platform; and taking ownership of product delivery.
This is a temporary, one-year appointment.
