The George Mason University Office of Graduate Education within the Office of the Provost seeks a full-time Director for Graduate Academic and Student Affairs. The responsibilities associated with this position are as follows:
Provide administrative oversight and organizational and management support for all functions associated with the Office of Graduate Education;
Provide leadership and oversight to a team of direct reports, faculty fellows and graduate assistants on all issues related to graduate student affairs, fellowships/scholarships, travel awards, health insurance, research involving graduate education, and program coordination with Mason's academic units;
Manage the graduate student appeals process and requests for exception to university policy;
Leads diversity and inclusion initiatives of the Office of Graduate Education. This includes oversight, management and coordination of the Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship Program;
Serve as the liaison between the Office of Graduate Student Life and the Office of Graduate Education; and
Work closely with the Director of Graduate Student Life to achieve university goals regarding student active learning and well-being.
Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Substantial experience working in higher education;
Excellent knowledge of basic computer applications, Ellucian Banner, and CRM systems;
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills;
Ability to manage change effectively and collaborate with other university offices;
Well-organized and detail-oriented; and
Flexibility and willingness to occasionally work outside of normal business hours with ability to multiprioritize effectively.
Five to seven years working in a higher education environment.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
