Reporting to the VP Technology/Chief Information Officer (CIO) and directing a cross-functional team of information technology and learning technology professionals, the Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Learning Technologies at the University of Cincinnati provides collaborative leadership for the development and delivery of the enterprise learning technologies roadmap and framework that is strategic, standardized, sustainable, supportable, scalable, and secure. Provides leadership in working with the VP Technology/CIO and leads team members to manage the enterprise learning technology operations of the organization; ensures operations are clearly aligned with the strategic priorities of IT@UC and the strategic academic and research priorities of the university. Works collaboratively with the Vice Provost for eLearning to ensure the enterprise learning technologies ecosystem appropriately supports the academic priorities and needs of the university. Coordinates with the Vice Provost for eLearning on a comprehensive set of technology, infrastructure, delivery, and the next generation of digital learning environments that facilitate the diverse teaching and learning missions of the university. In addition to management of existing enterprise instructional technologies and programs, the Assistant Vice President will deliver campus-wide a state-of-the-art, enterprise-wide learning technology environment that supports quality online, hybrid, and blended courses and the next generation of digital learning environments.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides advocacy and consistency for enterprise learning technologies products and services across all units.
Develops and implements short and long-term strategic plans consistent with university, IT, and governance planning/priorities and serves as a member of IT Governance committees and the IT Council as appropriate.
Leads the research, identification, and implementation of emerging enterprise learning technologies to enhance student learning environments, course delivery, and student engagement/outcomes.
Provides oversight for the implementation, support, maintenance, and delivery of enterprise learning technologies including the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) and related technologies.
Identifies, develops, and implements a standardized, enterprise suite of enterprise learning technology products and services (Canopy).
Leverages marketing and communication strategies to coordinate formalized, campus-wide communication plans that promote professional development, engagement, awareness, adoption and the use of enterprise learning technology resources.
Actively engages and collaborates with a variety of key university, unit level, and external constituents to advance the university priorities for enterprise learning technologies that support student learning outcomes and success.
Works to ensure the quality and accessibility of the enterprise learning technologies environment through the application of best practices and compliance standards such as Quality Matters; Section 508 of the American Disabilities Act (ADA); and Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization (TEACH) Act.
Partners with existing university service providers to implement comprehensive faculty/staff professional development programs that increase the use and adoption of enterprise learning technologies.
Collaborates with the Vice Provost for eLearning to develop and implement a robust student orientation program centered on improving student engagement, communication, and learning outcomes related to the use of enterprise learning technologies.
Create a collaborative culture for the use of enterprise learning technologies that fosters faculty/staff partnerships.
Partners with existing university service providers including the Center for Enhanced Teaching & Learning (CET&L) and Colleges to establish community of practice groups to increase the adoption, and use of enterprise learning technology and services.
Collaborates to identify grant funding opportunities to support research to practice in enterprise learning technology designed to improve learning experiences and outcomes.
Negotiates strategic sponsor partnerships and business agreements that enhance the enterprise learning technologies ecosystem (Canopy).
Manages the budget and identifies external funding partnerships and opportunities to advance the next generation of digital learning environments.
Collaborates with faculty and unit level leaders to assist with developing and implementing the enterprise suite of learning technologies and services.
Develops metrics to assess the effectiveness of the enterprise learning technologies ecosystem and promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement.
Serves as member of the university IT Governance Committees, including the IT Council as appropriate, and other assigned internal and external committees and task forces. Recruits, hires, manages, trains, and evaluates direct reports.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree with ten (10) years' of related leadership experience or an advanced degree with eight (8) years of related leadership experience. Experience must include three (3) or more years' of supervision experience. Five years of experience in a leadership role overseeing enterprise learning technologies in higher education; 8+ years of progressive experience in the field. Strategic leadership, management, and planning experience. Experience building; developing; and mentoring a team of information technology digital learning professionals.
Preferred Qualifications:Proven track record of superior customer service. Demonstrated success in cultivating strategic partnerships internally and externally. Knowledge of latest trends in higher education as they relate to enterprise learning technologies. Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills. Strong aptitude and ability to leverage information technology and applications. Effective consultative, presentation, and collaboration skills. Excellent project management and critical thinking skills. Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of diverse communities.
