The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Nursing has a new opportunity for a Human Resources Program Specialist. This position, along with the School of Nursing HR Manager, is responsible for supporting and organizing the administration of human resources for School of Nursing.

Organize the activities of a school's human resources with interrelated campus human resources initiatives to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, laws, and specifications. Adhere, propose, and ensure compliance with relevant federal and state laws and regulations and University System of Maryland (USM) or University policies and procedures
Meet, confer with, and advise staff, faculty, and others to provide human resources advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretation, and provide recommendations to resolving issues; refer to appropriate chain of command person when unable to respond. Conduct employee interviews and investigations providing recommendations and documentation for resolution.
Develop and schedule human resources programs in accordance with specifications. Oversee daily operations of human resources activities of the school; determine priorities and proceed accordingly.
Interact and maintain liaison with students, faculty, staff, and Human Resource Services (HRS) in facilitating human resources objectives. Collaborate with HRS initiatives ensuring school is fully informed and trained.
Prepare reports and record on human resources activities including progress, status, or other special reports for management.
Evaluate human resources activity effectiveness and develop or improve methods; devise evaluation methodology and implementation strategies; analyze results and recommend and take appropriate action.
Review human resources transactions to determine acceptance and formulate decisions pertaining to resolution of related issues.Develop, compile, and write communications for school distribution such as newsletters, brochures or flyers; coordinate process from development through printing and distribution.
Develop and facilitate human resources related workshops, meetings or conferences; coordinate logistics, scheduling and participant communications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field of study such as human resources or business administration.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in the human resources field. General knowledge of human resource laws, practices, and policies is required.
Preferred License/Certification: Professional in Human Resources (PHR), SHRM-CP

Possess knowledge of employment laws and regulations, organizational practices, and position requirements. Perform position in compliance with all human resources policies, regulations, and laws. Ability to maintain high standards with the work being performed and maintain awareness with trends and influences. Assumes personal responsibility for all outcomes; makes effective and timely decisions. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as word, excel, and PowerPoint. Maintains productivity and uses knowledge strategies to improve process and procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Interprets and understands written information and is able to listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding. Ability to document interviews and investigations that maybe presented in hearings and other official proceedings.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information obtained.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others. Capable of interacting pleasantly and positively with other to meet customer expectations, and provide follow up with customers.
