The Academic Technology Consultant (ATC) for the humanities will consult and collaborate with faculty through assistance on projects, and support classes utilizing tools often associated with the digital humanities. The ATC will use sound instructional design to assist in effectively implementing and assessing instructional technologies in the teaching, learning, and research environment. The ATC will also foster partnerships with the library, UR's Digital Scholarship Lab, and Information Services to stay current on the digital humanities and develop new resources for teaching and research. The ATC will be experienced in higher education uses of common server-based applications such as blogs, lecture capture, and learning/content management systems, with the ideal candidate having experience customizing and maintaining web development tools that may utilize HTML 5, MySQL, Oracle, Java, php, Linux, and XML.
Function as a consultant to faculty in the integration of technology into their teaching, learning and research.
Develop and deliver instructional programming; identify humanities-relevant software and other instructional materials specific to individual and groups of faculty.
Solve learning problems and help apply and implement appropriate pedagogical and/or technology related solutions.
Participate in ongoing research in new technologies.
Remain professionally active and contribute to developments in digital humanities and educational technology.
Administer and maintain educational technology environments.
Foster partnerships with and collaborate closely with library counterparts and Information Services to advance digital humanities integration and development.
Assemble materials with an awareness to intellectual property rights.
Serve on committees and participate in related faculty learning communities as appropriate.
Expert knowledge and experience using software and other tools related to supporting the humanities.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present/consult effectively with persons of various levels of expertise as well as to groups of all sizes.
Ability to understand and interpret educational needs and to develop effective instructional technology solutions.
Demonstrated interpersonal skillset that allows for effective collaboration with university faculty and the ability to work well within a small team environment.

Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches related to the humanities.

Skill in examining and evaluating operations and developing and/or re-engineering operating strategies, systems, and procedures.
Comprehensive knowledge of advanced instructional media production principles, methods, techniques, and standards.
Ability to independently learn new hardware and software.
Ability to provide technical leadership and project management on humanities projects.
Demonstrated ability to meet and manage multiple deadlines and work independently and on a team
Demonstrated research interests and evaluation of emerging technologies in the digital humanities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree required; degree in a humanities discipline is preferred.
Advanced degree with extensive experience in digital humanities strongly preferred.
At least two years experience supporting academic technologies in a higher education environment preferred.
1-2+ years college teaching experience in a humanities discipline preferred.
Experience preferred in two or more of the following areas and tools: content management systems (Omeka, Wordpress, Shared Shelf, Blackboard), data collections with data analysis and visualization, digital storytelling, spatial analysis (Carto, ArcGIS, StoryMapJS), digital storytelling, VR/AR, and 3D printing.
Demonstrated experience in multimedia design for the Web - digital audio and video experience preferred.
Experience with basic UNIX skills, i.e. using command-line tools on Mac OS and Linux preferred.
Demonstrated experience with web development tools (php, MySQL, Oracle, Java, and XML) to implement and maintain common server-based applications such as blogs and learning management systems (Blackboard) preferred.
Understanding of web accessibility, open source software, and web development standards preferred.
