Detailed Job Description
The Assistant Director (AD) will be responsible for developing marketing and communications plans and using them to advocate to industry, federal agencies, New York State, and non-profit organizations. The AD will have a PhD, or similar experience, in relevant fields and a track record in securing funding, either in academia, government, industry, and/or related sectors. The AD will assist in developing the vision, structure, and strategic plan. The AD will be responsible for coordinating with center faculty,staff, students, and other institutional resources regarding such issues, and for analyzing and documenting participating student and alumni trends, and implementing solutions to perceived issues aimed at increasing center research and development productivity, student and faculty success and satisfaction. The AD will lead the Industry Partnerships Program.
Create, implement, and maintain program for increasing funding by engaging and connecting with a wide variety of possible partners, collaborators,and donors. This includes outreach, community engagement, national presence and messaging at conferences, meetings, and working groups, as well as localized efforts to ensure the Center is connected and engaged with academic departments, colleges, and institutes across campus. Responsible for formulating policy and action plan for such, engaging necessary stake-holders,and implementing and maintaining an internationally visible communications network and collection of partners to the Center, subject to review and oversight of the Director.
Create and implement processes in collaboration and conjunction with the Director and with Institute policy. Oversee, manage and assess such implementations, including, but not limited to: advertisement and employment of students on research projects, entrepreneurial endeavors,start-ups, product creation, etc. Work with faculty researchers, research staff, and Center administrative team on the background research, preparation,submission, and oversight of proposals to major funding agencies and foundations, through appropriate channels and personnel and offices within Sponsored Research Services.
Implement Center-level alumni engagement and assessment activities in coordination with all participating colleges and institutes, as well as Development and Alumni Relations. Report assessment activities to the Center Director, administrative team, and affiliated faculty assessment representative(s).
Required Minimum Qualifications
1 year experience writing research proposals 1 year performing research in a relevant field

Ability to interpret, act, train, and disseminate information within the legal and ethical guidelines as mandated by FERPA and RIT Legal Counsel regarding student confidentiality and records management procedures and policies
