The Strategic Planner will provide thought leadership to develop and communicate strategic thinking, translate healthcare environmental trends into actionable initiatives to further the organization's tripartite mission of academic medicine. The planner will provide consultative services to inform and create business plans that efficiently align program planning within UCSD Health and UCSD Health Sciences Professional Schools. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning, the Planner will conduct market research, monitor and analyze industry trends, develop forecast models and analytical tools to identify threats and opportunities to translate market characteristics that will enable senior executives to make effective decisions impacting local market share of healthcare services and costs. Performs project management for medium to large scale, complex clinical data and information projects. The position requires a high level of professionalism in desk work and interpersonal relationships. Project management skills, leadership, judgment, technical skills, accuracy, and creativity are required.
Bachelors Degree with a strong analytic background.
Five years (5) of relevant experience in administrative analysis or operations research.
Expert knowledge of health care and industry trends.
Expert working knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
Advanced skill in use of MS Office, spreadsheets, and relational databases.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to prepare and deliver group presentations to varying audiences, including executives and large groups.
Strong managerial and interpersonal skills.
Advanced degree with a strong analytic component.
Classes, workshops, or other exposure to healthcare reform and/or translational medicine.
Access, ArcGIS, and/or commercial CRM products.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
