PART TIME; LIMITED/ TEMPORARY Minimum Starting Salary: $17.90/hourly

Position includes course work & field work:
**UNPAID** Course work: Advanced Apprenticeship in Ecological Horticulture 10-16-2017 through 10-26-2018.
**PAID** The paid employment positions will run from 04-01-2018 through 10-26-2018 at 75% variable time.

There are four work site locations: Up Garden, Farm Garden, Field, and Propagation in Farm Garden. At the time of interview a discussion will be shared regarding interests and preferences about the various work site options.

3. Please briefly describe your Organic Ecological Horticultural background.
Candidates selected for interview must present completion letter for CASFS Ecological Horticulture course or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience and education.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills, with effective and respectful communication skills that include: ability to listen well; ability to follow instructions; ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work effectively with others in a garden and/or field setting, and orient thinking towards solutions.
Experience with garden and field methods, including soil preparation, planting, irrigation, weeding, and harvest and post-harvest handling of a wide variety of crops; direct market sales and record-keeping; ability to make soil mixes for various propagation needs, sow a wide variety of seed types, assess seedling fertilization needs, and provide them organically; knowledge of asexual propagation techniques.
Ability to set up, effectively operate, and maintain a variety of irrigation systems as well as irrigate a diverse collection of plants.
Knowledge of composting systems and experience making and assessing garden-scale hot compost piles.
