Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Field Service Engineer III for the Information and Systems Technology department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The Field Service Engineer III provides computing and related end – user support to Cancer Institute of New Jersey faculty, staff, and guests in an environment which promotes industry best practices and optimal use of University focusing on Apple Macintosh users. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides general problem diagnosis and support for departmental LAN and workgroups.
Installs system, network and application software.
Installs workstation hardware, PDAs and smart phones.
Assists clients in understanding and accessing network-connected resources at all levels within the University’s network.
Performs tuning, monitoring and trend analysis for workstation equipment and associated LAN based operating systems.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration.
Three (3) years of experience in the use or support of desktop computing. Effective oral and written communication skills.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective oral and written communications skills.
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
ACM certification is required.
Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills suitable for “service environment.”
Mechanical skills appropriate to desktop computer support.
ACTC, ACSP and IOS certifications are preferred.
A+, MCDST and MCP certifications are preferred.
Knowledge of industry standards and trends.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.
Work Environment: Office environment. Moderate noise.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
