The Assistant Dean, Career Services, serves as the chief career services officer and employment subject matter expert in the Kogod School of Business (KSB) and reports directly to the Associate Dean for Programs and Learning at the Kogod School of Business. The Assistant Dean sets the strategic vision for the delivery of programs and services for the Kogod Center for Career Development (KCCD). The Assistant Dean will work with the Kogod Director of Alumni Relations at times to facilitate alumni engagement with KSB and strategic initiatives involving employer participation in external rankings. The KCCD teaches KSB undergraduates, graduates students, and alumni how to develop educational and career goals, decision-making skills, professionalism, and the job search strategies needed to manage their professional and academic pursuits as well as provide opportunities for engagement with alumni and employers. The KCCD provides Kogod majors and minors, alumni, faculty, staff and employers with expert advising; access to current information and resources; as well as opportunities to interact on and off campus and online. The Assistant Dean collaborates with other deans, department chairs, faculty, and staff throughout Kogod to develop an overall strategic plan and conduct employer and alumni outreach and career programming targeted to Kogod’s portfolio of degrees and large international population. The position collaborates extensively with the American University Career Center and to a lesser extent the law school career office, as well as the Office of I Institutional Research and Assessment to collect and report career outcomes in compliance with multiple reporting standards.
Position requires domestic and international travel as well as evening and weekend hours.

Master’s degree in business, higher education, or related discipline.
Ten years of relevant experience in career services (preferably in a business school), corporate recruitment, human resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong leadership, diplomacy, and professional judgment
Demonstrated ability to liaise among diverse university offices and leaders to develop collaborative, effective relationships
Experience successfully supervising a diverse staff and managing for performance in a service-oriented environment
Outstanding ability to develop and maintain relationships with multiple constituencies including students, faculty, staff, alumni, corporate partners, and external rankings representatives
Excellent attention to detail with strong ability prioritize and multi-task in a dynamic and high-pressure environment
An ability to handle and manage data in an effective way that facilitates the provision of information for accreditation and rankings purposes
Strategic thinking skills, ability to analyze and synthesize data, and persuasion skills and outstanding oral, written, and presentation skills
Experience with complex CSM systems, preferably Symplicity and Colleague
Knowledge of and experience with career outcomes reporting standards and business school rankings highly preferred.
