The Capital Project Services (CAPS) team resides within Financial Administration (FAD), and supports the Schools/Units that are responsible for capital spending on Harvard's buildings and infrastructure. As a member of CAPS, this position reports to the Manager of Capital Planning and Project Services and works closely with other key members of FAD to support the capital planning and projects processes.
This position will assume an important role in the coordinating/monitoring of capital projects approval process with Schools/Units and other groups and supporting the automated capital planning (CPATH) and project approvals (CAPS) systems. The CAPS system is a University-wide web-based program that tracks capital project financial status from project planning through construction close out. Managing the CAPS form approval process is the primary responsibility for this position. The person in this role will work closely with the CAPS Manager will a goal of independence in the execution of the responsibilities of the position. This is an excellent opportunity into capital planning and construction project review at a leading higher education institution. It is ideally suited for individuals with 1-2 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis.
Specific responsibilities related to CAPS include:
Reviews CAPS forms for data integrity including collaboration with all Schools/units to make necessary updates as needed.
Prepares memos for senior leadership.
Distributes capital project information to interested parties.
Once system proficiency obtained, trains and supports users of the CAPS systems.
Completes monthly deliverables based on CAPS form data.
In addition to pertinent role in project approvals, other responsibilities for this position include:
Assists with the administration of various University wide construction committee meetings; responsibilities include distributing agendas, attending meetings, and taking notes.
Participates in the support, enhancement, and testing of the automated systems.
Performs complex analyses for preparation of the University's capital plan.
Works within a team and collaborates with capital planning personnel across Schools/Units.
Performs other ad-hoc duties as assigned or requested.

Three to five years of related experience. Education beyond high school may count toward experience.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related degree preferred.
Desire to work in a team environment where each position contributes to the overall department goals and ultimate work product provided to senior key administrators of the University.
Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving, customer service skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a deadline driven environment.
