The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Nursing Office of Network and Computer Services is seeking a Multimedia Technician. Under general supervision, the Multimedia Technician will be responsible for providing operation and support of audio visual (A/V) technology, staffing conferences and events, and perform video capture of lectures, events, etc. Troubleshoot and manage Audio/Visual solutions, operate and provide support for A/V systems. Provide A/V systems technical training to faculty, staff and students. Provides computer desktop support, and staff the ILT Customer Service counter for walk-up requests and issues for faculty, staff, and students.

Operate and support A/V systems for classrooms, conference rooms, and lecture halls.
Instructs others on the usage of equipment and systems; develops training materials and schedules; develops/modifies operational manuals. Serves as internal resource for multimedia best practices and ensures projects meet quality standards.
Maintains A/V systems such as MediaSite.
Staff events, conferences, symposiums, lectures, etc.
Prepares multimedia equipment, systems and materials for distribution and operation; produces, edits and duplicates multimedia materials.
Installs equipment and systems; assists in developing equipment specifications and design. Prepares recommendations and schedules for equipment maintenance and replacement.
Ensures operational readiness of equipment and distribution systems, troubleshoots and repairs minor problems, performs preventive maintenance and refers major problems to appropriate supervisor.
Ensures adequate supplies, materials and equipment are maintained; keeps inventory records, ensures security of equipment.
Provides desktop computer and peripherals support.
Assists with walk up issues and requests at the customer service counter.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Multimedia or Audio Visual Technology, or related field
EXPERIENCE: One year in the operation and maintenance of audio-visual or multimedia equipment.
Possesses a knowledge of Mediasite or other lecture capture technology - hardware, software, and database. Possesses a working knowledge of Extron Audio and video systems controllers, switchers, splitters and converters, Allen-Heath and Mackie mixers, JBL and QSC PA equipment, Polycom video conferencing, Shure wired and wireless microphone systems, LanSchool classroom management software. Skill in the operation and repair of multimedia equipment. Ability to lead and train subordinate personnel; to use personal computers; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to work over, under and around fixed equipment; to work in confined spaces; to lift and carry multimedia equipment. Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others. Capable of interacting pleasantly and positively with other to meet customer expectations, and provide follow up with customers.
OTHER: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Valid Maryland Non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver's license may be required.
Hiring Range: $38,686.00-$49,000.00
