The EKG Technician performs noninvasive cardiac testing. This includes, but is not limited to, electrocardiograms, signal averaged EKGs, and holter monitoring.
The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of abnormal EKGs so that abnormal critical results can be reported to the physician.
Routinely assists families to the cardiology area by escorting when necessary.
Assists in checking on families and keeping families informed of procedural progress.
Performs EKGs and holter monitors on patients, including the critically ill patient and reports abnormal information to the nurse or physician.
Enters testing information into the MS Access database and EKG server database in a timely manner.
Routinely enters patient orders and charges. Checks charges to ensure accuracy.
Regularly processing requisitions and performs various other clerical duties as needed.
Consistently checks physician boxes for late reports, and gives late reports to first available physician for interpretation.
Routinely provides clear patient instruction on what to expect during the testing procedure.
Prepares monthly reports for supervisor and director when asked
