Demonstrates excellent customer service skills by providing a patient friendly and pleasant pre-registration process to assure that patient and family needs are met in a timely manner. Responsible for accurate pre-registration of patient, communication of St. Francis Health Center policies, financial responsibilities and patient Rights and Responsibilities according to departmental operating procedures. Ensures compliance with Joint Commission and EMTALA regulations and other regulatory agencies. Works under the supervision of the Patient Access Manager.
High School Diploma or GED
Two to three years in hospital or physician clinic scheduling and registration
Must type 40 wpm; proficient computer skills. Excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal; interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients and their families, physician offices, nursing personnel and co-workers. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and coordinate more than one event at a time. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. Professionalism required.
CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate)
Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare benefit plans, including Medicare, Medicaid and other third party payors.
